Wyoming’s state bird
The days are getting longer, the temperatures warming up, and all around we can here and see the signs as spring comes to life. All of that is am important morale boost after a long winter, but the true sign that spring has sprung in Wyoming is that unmistakable song of the Meadowlark.
Meadowlarks are a member of the black bird family, and they live in grasslands, prairies, and meadows ranging from sea level to 10,000 feet in elevation. Depending on the time of year, they eat grain seeds, weed seeds, and insects. Males will spend up to a month establishing and defending a breeding area prior to the arrival of the females.
